Everyone's experience with any type of surgery will be different. This is as much of a bare-bones guide as I can provide based on the information that I was seeking throughout my journey to bottom surgery/anything I wish I had easy access to during my endless hours of scouring the internet for facts regarding having a phalloplasty.
I have to note that I am an aspiring writer and I will do my best to strip my posts of any personal ramblings because something I have struggled with when using google as my surgical guide is sifting through the experiences of folks that were unrelated to what I was looking for/misleading youtube headlines/essays on the history of of someone's life. I have the utmost respect for all the transmen that have been brave enough to share their wisdom but when I'm punching these things into the search bar I want a quick answer. If you want a more in-depth look into my thoughts I have used #SUBMARINE to separate these posts from anything that I consider to be critical information.
Please view the TIMELINE for a date-specific breakdown of my phalloposty.
HYSTERECTOMY/OOPHORECTOMY:
- CONSULTATION - telling my GP I wanted surgery, meeting my surgeon, etc
- PREPARATION - pre-op appointments, arrangements I made, things I bought beforehand
- SURGERY - entire experience of admission to hospital to being discharged
- POST-OPERATION RECOVERY - a day-by-day recollection of recovery from being released to six weeks after surgery
- LIFE AFTER SURGERY - things I wish I knew, general surgery-related observations
More information on my phalloplasty to come.
